CHILLI PEPPERS Coastal Grill, in Kill Devil Hills, NC, was established in 1993 by Jim Douglas. The Chilli Peppers OBX bar and grill quickly became a favorite spot for flavorful cuisine from around the world. The name may seem to indicate Southwestern or even Mexican food, but don’t get confused – their food is innovative, and has no geographical boundaries –from “Tuna Sashimi” (Asian) to “Chimmi Churri Oysters” (Argentinian) to Slow Cooked Chicken Enchiladas (Mexican) to local steamed seafood – they do it all!
Chilli Peppers Coastal Grill has been a local and tourist favorite for Sunday Brunch, since 1994. We were voted “The Best Brunch On The Beach” by the Virginian Pilot Newspaper. We also do Tapas (small bites) with a different ethnic menu every week, during the winter months.
Jim also happens to be the developer of the OBX sticker/icon, a symbol synonymous for the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Chilli Peppers has won National Awards for several of their sauces, including “Best in Show” at the Albuquerque, New Mexico Fiery Foods Show for their BBQ Sauce. In 2007, Chilli Peppers Coastal Grill started to do catering, due to constant requests and that has really opened a new chapter to a restaurant growing out of its teenage years and into adulthood.
